Dorothy Zwiebel Farrell, 82, of Hanover Township died Saturday at Timber Ridge Health Care Center.
Born August 10, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Theodore W. and Katherine Gwynn Zwiebel.
Dorothy was a member of the Class of 1949 of Saint Nicholas High School and graduated from Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business.
While she devoted most of her adult life to raising her family, Dorothy was employed by First Eastern Bank and its successor, PNC Bank for several years before retiring.
Mrs. Farrell was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas.
Her husband, Eugene J. Farrell died February 18, 1988. A brother, Jack Zwiebel also preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Eugene J. Farrell, Jr. of Hanover Township, Jack and his wife Jeanne Farrell of Larksville and Katherine and her husband Robert Hines of Mountain Top; grandchildren, Kelley Sherin, Lindsey, Eugene J., III and Marissa Farrell, Ryan and Patrick Farrell, and Meghan, Elizabeth and Erin Hines; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted and his wife Catherine Zwiebel of Hanover Township and Bob Zwiebel of Wilkes-Barre Township; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Dorothy's entire family is grateful to the dedicated staff of Timber Ridge and Celtic Hospice for the loving care they shared with her.
Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held Wednesday at 10 AM from McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM.
