Andrew Harbay

Andrew W. Harbay, 97, of Wilkes-Barre died Sunday at Heritage House.

Born September 2, 1913 in Larksville he was a son of the late Frank and Mary Haropko Harbay.

Andrew retired in 1973 after many years as a supervisor of the Shipping and Delivery Department of Town & Country Furniture Galleries in Wilkes-Barre.

Andrew resided in South Berwick, Maine for twenty-five years where he was active with senior citizens organizations. He returned to live at Heritage House in Wilkes-Barre in 2007.

His wife, Christina DeFlorio Harbay died May 7, 1974. Four brothers, four sisters and a son-in-law, Charles P. Allabaugh also preceded him in death.

Surviving are his three daughters: Pearl Allabaugh of Stroudsburg, Gloria Jean and her husband Richard Peard of Nanticoke, and Andrea and her husband Ernie Nassimbene of San Jose, California; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Andrew’s Life will be celebrated in a Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10 AM in Church of Saint Therese, 15 Old River Road in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 to 10 AM

Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Kitchen, 39 East Jackson Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701-2709
