Ann Marie DeVizia passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at Luther Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hatboro, where she had resided since March 2022.
Ann Marie was born in Wilkes Barre on September 22, 1945, daughter to the late Joseph F. DeVizia and Ruth Miller DeVizia.
A 1963 graduate of St. Anne's Academy, Ann Marie earned her bachelor of arts degree in social studies from College Misericordia in Dallas in May 1967. She furthered her education by acquiring a Master of Counseling degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
Ann Marie devoted her life to serving others in the mental health field. She held many positions in this field, including addiction counselor at First Hospital Wyoming Valley, Wilkes Barre, and student assistance counselor for Wyoming Valley West School District in Kingston and Plymouth White Marsh School District in Plymouth Meeting.
Additionally, she continued to advocate for the public, holding the director of volunteers and housekeeping position at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre and Rydal Park Senior Living Facility in Jenkintown. She retired from her illustrious career after collaborating with Philmont Guidance Center in Flourtown and establishing a private counseling practice in Fort Washington.
Ann Marie is survived by her daughter Nicole Alapack Stasio, son-in-law Dean Stasio, three granddaughters Sophie, Olivia, and Natalie Stasio, her brother Joseph DeVizia, sister-in-law Mauria Klemek DeVizia, nieces Tania DeVizia Berdosh(Jay) and Christa DeVizia Mecadon (Gerard), nephew Joseph DeVizia, and grandnephew Alfred Joseph (AJ) Mecadon. She was fortunate to have many loving cousins and close friends she adored, and she was particularly blessed to have a best friend of 74 years, Sharon Conklin Sullivan. Sharon was truly her soul mate and Ann Marie loved her as a sister and adopted her family as her own.
Celebration of Ann Marie's Life will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 130 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM and is followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township. A luncheon will follow at Leggio's Italian Restaurant in Dallas.
