Anthony Ott

Anthony Francis Ott, 88, of Wilkes-Barre died Sunday at Little Flower Manor.

Born September 30, 1921 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Charles and Rosalia Mische Ott.

Anthony was a graduate of Saint Nicholas Grade School, Coughlin High School in 1939 and Wilkes-Barre Business College in 1945.

Anthony worked at the Philadelphia Navy Yard after high school. After college, he relocated to Washington D.C. and worked for Swift & Company, Dyson’s Meat Supply, and then finished his career with the United States Department of the Treasury where he retired after seventeen years of service. Anthony was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved being a soccer dad. He enjoyed dancing, reading, fishing and watching football. He was an avid war history buff.

Returning to Wilkes-Barre in 2005, Anthony was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas, Saint Nicholas Holy Name Society and Saint Conrad’s Young Men’s Society.

Sisters, Leona Fischer and Marie Staab and brothers, Carl, Michael, Bernard, Frank, William and John Ott preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children: Heidi and her husband Gary Derby of Yorktown, Virginia and Erik and his wife Chrissie Ott of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina along with his beloved grandchildren Matthaeus and Christian.

Celebration of Anthony’s life will be held Saturday, September 18th at 9 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in Church of Saint Nicholas. Interment will be in Saint Nicholas Cemetery in Shavertown.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at McLaughlin’s.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Saint Nicholas Renovation Fund at 226 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701-2897.

Heidi and Erik would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all of their cousins and their spouses who have helped make Anthony’s retirement years in Wilkes-Barre a wonderful homecoming experience. Also, they would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Saint Therese Residence and Little Flower Manor for their wonderful support.
