Arline Hennighan

April 6, 1932 — November 24, 2011

Arline M. Hennighan, 79, of the North End section of Wilkes-Barre was in the presence of her family as she entered into eternal rest at her home on Thursday.

Born April 6, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Julia Custrin Hennighan. Arline was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School and lived her entire life in Wilkes-Barre.

Arline retired in 1994 from the Social Security Administration offices in Wilkes-Barre where she worked as a data transcriber.

Miss Hennighan was a member of the former Sacred Heart-St. John’s Church in Wilkes-Barre.

Arline loved crafts of all sorts. Her many hobbies through the years included sewing, crocheting, cross stitch, latch hook and stamping.

Sisters, Mary Kerr, Barbara Hennighan and Marguerite Hennighan preceded her in death.

Surviving are her half-brother, Thomas Denslow, Forestport, New York; brother-in-law, Thomas Kerr of Athens, Georgia; godchild, Michaelene (Brian) Murphy of West Wyoming and seven nieces and nephews: Patrick (Ava) Kerr, Maple Valley, Washington; Diane (Steve) Reusing, Fort Collins, Colorado; Janice Kerr and Doug Facey, Burlington, Vermont; Thomas (Vicki) Kerr, Waynesboro, Georgia; Ralph (Mary) Kerr, Woodbridge, Virginia; Beth (Michael) Kaminski, Moon Township, Pennsylvania and Julie (Earl) Gulley, Mascoutah, Illinois; twenty great nieces and nephews and three great-great nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by all.

Celebration of Arline’s Life will be held Monday at 10 AM from McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Monsignor John J. Sempa will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11 AM in Immaculate Conception Church in West Pittston. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Visitation will be held at McLaughlin’s on Monday from 9 to 10 AM.

The family encourages that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Community Care, 385 Wyoming Ave, Kingston 18704 or a charity of the donor’s own choice.
