Arline M. Oldershaw, 89, formerly of Bear Creek, passed away March 28, 2015 in Ashland, Virginia.
Born August 14, 1925 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Stanley H. and Helen G. Ritts.
Mrs. Oldershaw was employed by the Penn’s Woods Girl Scout Council in Wilkes-Barre as Registrar and Master Trainer. After retiring, she relocated to Virginia.
Mrs. Oldershaw was very active in community volunteer work, with a particular interest in senior citizen well-being. Most notably, she was a Pennsylvania Delegate to the 1995 White House Conference on Aging. She served in leadership roles in the AARP at both state and local levels. She was an officer of Mended Hearts, cardiac support group. She was a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts, USA, volunteering with that organization for thirty-five years.
Her husband, Robert E. Oldershaw died in 1981.
Arline will be greatly missed by her four children, Bobbie Sullivan of Denver, CO; Janice O’Neil of Seattle, WA; Karl Oldershaw of Ashland, VA; and Robert Oldershaw of Bear Creek, PA; nine grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
Celebration of Arline’s Life will begin Sunday, April 19th with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue on Monday, April 20, 2015 with a Funeral Mass at noon in the Church of Saint Elizabeth, 5700 Bear Creek Boulevard in Bear Creek Village. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
