Barbara "Bobbie" Graham, 87, of Lake Nuangola, Pennsylvania, died on October 6, 2024. Bobbie was the daughter of Laura Trainer Kreidler and Raymond Kreidler. She grew up in Upper Montclair, New Jersey, and was the great-granddaughter of David Trainer, founder of Trainer, Pennsylvania, and the great-granddaughter of William Henry Conant Riggs, founder of Riggs & Brother, Philadelphia.
In 1956, Bobbie married the boy next door, Robert "Bob" Graham, and began a 68-year marriage filled with love and adventure. Bob and Bobbie started their marriage in Valdosta, Georgia, where Bob began Fighter Interceptor Training for the U.S. Air Force. Bobbie embraced her role as the wife of a fighter pilot while her husband fought for his country. She raised three children and taught them resilience, independence, and the importance of hard work. During her husband's military career, she set up homes for the family in all parts of the world, from Misawa, Japan, to Incirlik, Turkey, to Osan, South Korea, to Kaiserslautern, Germany, and throughout the United States. Because the life of a military family requires constant geographic changes, Bobbie showed her kids that "home" was wherever their family was, creating an exceptionally tight bond within the family.
In 1982, following a terrorist attack in Germany, Bobbie firmly encouraged that it was time to retire from military life and begin a new chapter. The family relocated to Pennsylvania and established a home at Lake Nuangola. Bobbie loved the lake, from designing her garden to painting lake scenes to introducing her grandchildren to lake life. With help from Sue Hand and the Pennsylvania En Plein Air Society, Bobbie organized the Nuangola Art Walk, where artists would spend a weekend painting the lake en plein air and then sell their works at a Gallery event that raised money for the Nuangola Lake Association. She was very proud of the success of the event.
Bobbie was a constant cheerleader and supporter of the success of her children and grandchildren. From the growth of the family business, Riggs Asset Management, and its philanthropic impact on the community to the success of her daughter's interior design firm, Graham Designs, to the work her granddaughter does for the Mizel Institute.
Bobbie was the core of our family, and we will miss her deeply. She leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Bob Graham, Lake Nuangola, daughter Sandra, Alexandria, Virginia, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Deborah, Shavertown, daughter, Elizabeth, Bear Creek Village, grandson, Robert, Harvey's Lake, and granddaughter, Jacqueline, Boulder, Colorado. Bobbie's parents, Laura and Raymond Kreidler, as well as a sister, Constance Schimmel, predecease her.
Pursuant to her wishes, services will be private. Bobbie will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
Donations to the Nuangola Lake Association are preferred and will honor Bobbie's memory.
