Bonnie Carlo, 56, of Wilkes-Barre passed away peacefully on Tuesday at Hospice Community Care after a courageous battle with a rare leukemia.
Born July 9, 1956 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Phyllis Habel Mushalla and John Klinetob.
A 1974 graduate of Hanover Area Vocational School of Practical Nursing, Bonnie earned her LPN certification enabling her to embark on a thirty-five year career in the field of nursing.
Bonnie worked tirelessly as a med-surg nurse on Four South at Mercy Hospital for thirty years, earning the respect of both patients and her Mercy family co-workers. When Mercy merged with Geisinger, Bonnie and many of her co-workers had to switch gears. She completed her nursing career as a clinical nurse with the Geisinger Health System.
Bonnie was a very devoted wife to her husband, Randy, and loving mother to their four children, Jeffrey, Jenna, Jared and Jillian. Her greatest joy in life was the nurturing of her family. No matter what the problem, big or small, she was there to protect and advise her children. She also derived extreme happiness from her children's athletic, academic and professional accomplishments.
Bonnie had a tremendous zest for life, enjoying many vacations and dinners with family and close friends. She lived for holiday gatherings, which she made very special for her family. She will always be remembered for the joy she brought to the many lives she touched.
She will be greatly missed by her beloved family: her husband of thirty-four years, Randy Carlo; children, Jeffrey and his wife Jenny Carlo and their son, Jackson of Hanover Township, Jenna Carlo of Wilkes-Barre, Jared Carlo of Hanover Township and Jillian Carlo of Wilkes-Barre; sister, Linda and her husband Allan Mutchler of New York; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
