Carol Ann Pryor Frail, 75, a life-long resident of Wilkes-Barre died Saturday in the presence of her loving family and the dedicated staff of Heritage House and Hospice Care of the VNA.
Born December 20, 1935 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Herman and Florence Banker Pryor.
Carol graduated from Meyers High School in 1953 and, after a brief modeling stint in New York, married her high school sweetheart in 1954. They were blessed with seven children.
Carol loved being a stay at home mom, but some might say she enjoyed being a grandmother even more with her nine wonderful grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her other passions were quite diverse and included making holiday wreaths, rescuing Siamese cats and Labrador retrievers, wearing lipstick and pretty earrings, organizing class reunions, playing Pinochle, winning big on slot machines, watching horse racing, and tending to her many house plants. If Carol was not at home, she was often shopping at the downtown farmer's market, Boscov's, or Washington Square Apartments rummage sales.
Her husband, Robert A. Frail, died April 28, 1989. Her son, Robert A. Frail, Jr., died July 7, 1989. An infant daughter, Carol and brother, Clark Pryor also preceded her in death.
Carol will be missed by her daughter-in-law, Jane and her children, Steve, Mary Jo and her husband Mike Hromchak, Jeff and his wife Bernadette, Charlene and her husband Jim McGeever, and Michael; grandchildren, Bob, Katie, Kelly, Nicole, Kerri, Jeffrey and Meghan Frail, Michael and Matthew Hromchak; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jayla, Riley, Chase and Alivia; and a brother, Laing Batchler.
Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held Wednesday at 6 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Wednesday from 4 to 6 PM.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to SPCA, 524 East Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, 18702-6911, or Hospice Care of the VNA, 486 Northampton Street, Edwardsville, 18704-4599.
