Catherine J. McCabe, 71, of Hanover Township and a longtime resident of Parrish Street in Wilkes-Barre died in the presence of her loving family at her home on Friday.
Born February 27, 1943 in Hanover she was a daughter of the late Francis and Catherine Glennon McCabe.
Catherine was a graduate of Hanover High School and Wilkes-Barre Area Vocational-Technical School. Before retiring she was a licensed practical nurse in the Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Oncology departments of the former Mercy Hospital.
A fan of Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, Catherine most enjoyed travelling the country and spending time with her grandchildren.
A sister, Patricia Scavone preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Karen and her husband Bill Cooper of Wyoming, Jack Howatt of Cape May, New Jersey and Richard and his wife Sharon Howatt of Ozark, Alabama; grandchildren, Billy, Ryan, Kelsey and Sean Cooper, Amber Howatt, Richard and Nicholas Howatt; sisters, Maureen Paulson and Rita McCabe; brother, James F. and his wife Maureen McCabe; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Catherine’s Life will be held Tuesday at 8:30 AM from McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Patrick. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
