Catherine A. Simms

Catherine A. Simms, 93, of Mountain Top died peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2016.

Born June 14, 1923 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Francis J. and Madeline Jacobs Featherstone.

A member of the Parish of Saint Jude and its Altar & Rosary Society, Catherine was also a member of the Mountain Top Women's Club and was a former Cub Scout Den Mother.

Her husband, Guy F. Simms died December 21, 2002. A son, Larry; sisters, Jeanne Schmidt, Frances and Barbara Featherstone; and brother, Thomas Featherstone also preceded her in death.

Catherine will be greatly missed by her daughter, Barbara and her husband John Chamberlain; son, Guy and his wife Patricia Simms; grandchildren, Catherine Wotring, Ellen Pettenato, Guy Simms, Joel Simms, Lori George and Larry Simms, Jr.; ten great grandchildren; a brother, John Featherstone; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Celebration of Catherine’s Life will begin Sunday with visitation from 2 to 5 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue Monday with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Jude. Interment will be in Albert Cemetery.

Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County.
