Charles A. Williams, Jr., 92, of Sugar Notch died Thursday at Manor Care Health Services.
Born September 10, 1922 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Charles A. and Anna Mooney Williams.
A graduate of Meyers High School, Charles earned his degree in business administration from Wilkes University.
An Army Air Force veteran he honorably served our country in the European Theater during World War II.
Charles was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center for more than thirty years before retiring.
Always a gentleman, he was a humorous, kind and loving son, brother, husband and father. He enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.
Sisters, Dorothy McCrea and Marguerite Williams preceded him in death.
Charles will be greatly missed by his wife, the former Mary M. McElwee; daughter, Ann Williams of Swoyersville; son, Charles G. Williams of Warminster; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Charles' family is grateful to the staff of Manor Care and everyone who made it possible for them to care for him at home over the past six years, especially the staff at the VA Medical Center Pharmacy, Francine Pernikoff and the Szafran and Calabro families.
Celebration of Charles’s Life will begin Monday with visitation from 5 to 7 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Tuesday with gathering at 9 AM and Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Holy Family in Sugar Notch. Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery.
