Chester Michael Shiner, 78, of Scranton, a former longtime resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away after an illness at Scranton Health Care Center on Monday, December 5, 2022.
Born August 2, 1944 in Scranton he was the son of the late Wanda Zackowski Shiner Baden and the late Carl W. Shiner, Jr.
Chester attended school in White Haven. He was employed for thirty-eight years at King's College in Wilkes-Barre.
Chester faithfully attended Holy Cross P.N.C. Church in Wilkes-Barre for many years.
Chester lived his life for his family, friends, love of music, and his animals, especially his dog, Susan.
Chester's family is grateful for the kindness and love shared with him by Scranton Health Care Center staff, especially Doug from the activities department.
His beloved wife of forty-seven years, Rosemary Ritchie Shiner, died on May 15, 2020. His sister, Gloria Shiner Dymkowski, and sister-in-law, Jean Ann Shiner, also preceded him in death.
His brother Carl W. Shiner, III; half-brother Gary and his wife Lenore Shiner, who were his caregivers before entering Scranton Health Care Center; half-sister Arline and her husband Michael Maros; brother-in-law Sr. Fr. Thaddeus J. Dymkowski; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends will miss him very much.
Celebration of Chester's Life takes place on Thursday, December 8, 2022, with visitation beginning at 10 AM and a prayer service led by his brother-in-law, Sr. Fr. Thaddeus J. Dymkowski, at 11:30 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Entombment in Saint Mary's Mausoleum will follow.
