Edythe Williams, Edie, 68, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Born October 9, 1954 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Thois Evans Williams.
A 1972 G.A.R. Memorial High School graduate, Edie continued her education at Shippensburg University.
Edie worked for the SBA under Lance Lillian for several years before accepting a position with the City of Wilkes-Barre, working with City Clerk Bill Brace. She was the executive secretary to Mayor Tom McGroarty before retiring after twenty-six years with the city. Edie was also a bartender at Billy's Sports Bar and Carl's Bar for many years.
Edie was an enthusiastic fan of New York Yankees baseball and Philadelphia Eagles football. She was a longtime member of the Santa Paolina Club and Ukrainian Club in Wilkes-Barre.
Her brother, Thomas J. Willams, III, preceded her in death.
Her son Shawn and his wife Nina Williams of Kingston; grandchildren Shawn Williams, Jr. and Gabriella Williams of Wilkes-Barre; brother David Williams of Glen Lyon; nieces Michelle (George) Webby of Alden and Andrea (Joe) Savitsky of Plains; great-nieces Jillian Savistsky and Dominique (John) Hummel; great-great-niece and -nephew Adalynn and Dawson Hummel; family dog Marley; beloved cat Genny; other family and friends will miss her very much.
Celebration of Edie's Life takes place Sunday, September 17, 2023, with visitation from 2 to 5 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Please dress casually.
