Edward C. Grimes September 27, 2016
Edward C. Grimes, 86, of Kingston died Tuesday at his home.
Born April 24, 1930 in Kingston he was the son of the late E. Peter and Marion Kropp Grimes.
A graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Plains, Ed earned his bachelors degree from Villanova University in 1952.
Ed joined his father in the operation of the family business, Master Garment Cleaners in Kingston. He later became an owner and remained active in the operation of the business throughout his lifetime.
A member of the Parish of Saint Ignatius Loyola, Ed was also actively involved with Boy Scouts of America for many years and the parents’ clubs of Holy Name School and Bishop O'Reilly High School. He was a Man of the Year of the Greater Wilkes-Barre JayCees and a past president of the Pennsylvania Dry Cleaners Association.
His wife of forty-nine years, Eleanor Reilly Grimes died September 27, 2003 and a son, Christopher F. Grimes died June 11, 2015.
Ed will be greatly missed by his son, Edward C. ‘Ned’ Grimes, Jr.; granddaughter, Savanna Lynn Grimes; partner, Ann Evans; nieces, nephews, other family, friends and loyal employees.
Celebration of Ed’s Life will begin Friday with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue Saturday with gathering at 9 AM in the Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola on North Maple Avenue in Kingston followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Saint Joseph's Center or the Parish of Saint Ignatius.
