Elizabeth O'Karma, 92, a longtime resident of Wilkes-Barre died in Cambridge, Massachusetts on July 6, 2018.
Born August 22, 1925, she was a daughter of the late George and Cecelia Dreier Kowalchick. Elizabeth was a graduate of Garrison High School.
Prior to her marriage to Henry David O'Karma, Elizabeth worked for the Bell Telephone Company. She later worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Luzerne County Human Resources Department before retiring.
Elizabeth was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas as well as the Art League of Wilkes-Barre.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Henry David O'Karma; sons, Henry D. Jr. and James G. O'Karma; her sisters, Marie Young and Irma Merolli; and brother Joseph Kowalchick. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Judith McCaffrey (David); sons, Christopher O'Karma (Judith) and Tadd O'Karma( Antoine); grandchildren, James, Megan, Matthew, David, Spencer, Elizabeth and Nicholas; her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Josie; and sister, Alberta Manning.
Elizabeth's entire family is grateful for the care provided by Neville Center at Fresh Pond.
Celebration of Elizabeth's Life will be held Wednesday with visitation from 9 to 10:30 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas. Burial will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
