Elizabeth A. Russell, known to many as Betty Boop, 92, of Wilkes-Barre passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
Born January 19, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Peter and Anna Hawk Lyons of Swoyersville.
Betty attended Swoyersville schools. Before retiring she was employed at various garment manufacturing companies in the area.
Betty enjoyed listening to the golden oldies of the 40s, 50s and 60s, and watching old movies, including westerns, dramas and musicals, in addition to the news on her number one television station, Channel 16.
Her husband, Leo J. Russell, died March 17, 1985. Sisters, Anna, Gertrude and Agnes, and brothers, Leo, Leonard and James also preceded her in death.
Betty was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by family and friends, including her children, Danny and his wife Betty Jean Russell, Denise and her husband Larry Deininger, and Gary and his wife Mary Russell; grandchildren, Michelle and her husband Dave Smith, Joey Brice, Miranda and her husband Ricky Dunkailo, and Debbie Russell; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Smith.
Betty’s entire family is grateful for the wonderful care she received from the nurses and staff of Riverstreet Manor.
Betty’s family will celebrate her life privately.
