Elizabeth E. Sipple, 76, of Indian Lake in Buck Township died of a stroke on Tuesday morning at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
Born May 24, 1936 in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Hannadel Lippa.
Betty was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School where she was recognized for her academic achievement.
Before retiring Betty was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for nearly thirty years.
Betty was a member of the Parish of Saint Elizabeth in Bear Creek. She was active in local politics and served as a democratic committeewoman in Buck Township for more than twenty-five years.
A brother, Sylvester Lippa preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Raymond Sipple; children, Raymond Sipple, Jr. and his wife Ann Marie, Frank Sipple and his wife Brenda, Ann Marie Brudnicki, James Sipple and his wife Denise, Kathleen Sipple and her partner Elsie, Joseph Sipple and his wife Ann; grandchildren, Raymond, III, Grace, Renee, Frank, Jr., Jacob, Erin, P.J., Holly, Melissa, Nicole, James, Jr., Matthew, Joseph, Jr. and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Raymond, IV, Cassie Sipple, Amy, Kylee, Aiden, Alexis, Ashli Nicole, Taylor Leigh, Megan and Raeonna; sisters, Margaret Sterbinsky and Theresa DiFranseco; other family and friends.
Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held Friday at 9 AM from McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Elizabeth. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM.
