Eugene A. McAneny, 85 died Saturday August 10 at the Hampton House in Hanover Township where he had resided for the last three years.
Born March 26, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, Gene was a son of the late Eugene and Anna Sickler McAneny.
He was a graduate of GAR Memorial High School and had served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1948. At the time of his Honorable Discharge Gene had attained the rank of Corporal.
Prior to retirement Gene had been employed by International Telephone and Telegraph as an Installation and Service Engineer for thirty five years.
A longtime resident of Hanover Township and was a lifelong member Of St. Aloysius Church. He also had been a very active member and Past Commander of Ashley-Newtown VFW post 702.
Gene was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard and Patrick McAneny. Sisters, Agnes Baratta and Dorothy Klinges.
Surviving are his sister Mary Frania of Wilkes-Barre as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends deep appreciation to the staff of Hampton House and also Heartland Hospice for their help and support.
Celebration of Gene's Life will be held Tuesday at 8:30 AM at McLaughlin’s-The Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St. Wilkes-Barre with a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Aloysius Church, Barney St. Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery In Hanover Township.
