Eugenia A. Hoban, 65, of Bear Creek died Friday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born September 17, 1945 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Eugene F. and Catherine Lynch McGuire.
A graduate of Saint Mary’s High School, Eugenia earned her bachelor of elementary education from Misericordia University and masters in guidance from the University of Scranton.
As an educator, Eugenia was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for thirty-four years. She was a guidance counselor for the district for thirty years, serving the last nine years of her career at E.L. Meyers High School before retiring.
Eugenia was a member of the Parish of Saint Elizabeth and Pennsylvania State Education Association.
Surviving are her husband, Rob; daughter, Kara of Pittsburgh; sister, Maureen and her husband Jim Rinehimer of Pocono Pines and their children, Kevin, Brendan, Caitrin, Maura and Colin; sister-in-law, Nona and her husband Dick Loftus of Mountain Top and their children, Nona, Patrick and Michael; and her faithful companions, Murphy and Mollie.
Celebration of Eugenia’s Life will be held Tuesday at 9 AM from McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Elizabeth. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin’s on Monday from 4 to 8 PM.
