Eva Elizabeth Lange MD, PhD

March 27, 1945 — May 7, 2021

Eva Elizabeth Lange, M.D., Ph.D., FACP, a native of Warsaw, Poland, was born in the sacristy of a church in Krakow while escaping the Nazi occupation in Warsaw on March 27, 1945 and passed away on May 7, 2021 at her home.

Dr. Lange received her M.D. in 1968 from the Academy of Medicine in Warsaw, Poland and her Ph.D. in 1978 from the Postgraduate Medical Center & Institute of Oncology in Warsaw, where she specialized in Reproductive Biology and Biochemistry. She completed internships in Warsaw and Basel, Switzerland, and served as a professor in Endocrinology and Gerontology in Warsaw. After emigrating to the United States in 1979, she performed research in the Thrombosis Center at Temple University, served as an Endocrinologist, and was in charge of the Osteoporosis Center at Lawndale Community Hospital in Philadelphia. In 1986 she was appointed Chief Endocrinologist at the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, where she worked until a mountain biking accident forced her into disability retirement. Dr. Lange was also a licensed hypnotherapist.

Eva loved her home in Kingston Township and developing her spiritual life. She enjoyed adventure and meeting like-minded people. Her trips took her from the Amazon rainforest with her faithful toy poodle, Buddy, where they traveled on the Amazon River into the jungle to meet and work with indigenous healers and Shamans to other South American countries where she studied Mayan culture. More recently, she traveled on the Nile River in Egypt to meet with native Shamans. On her bucket list was to meet with Aboriginals in New Zealand to experience "Dream Time" firsthand. Part of her spiritual journey included meeting and training with Bob Monroe at the Monroe Institute. Her post-retirement years found her focusing on working as a spiritual and energy healer using a natural approach to helping many people who came to her for assistance which she so generously provided. She was a member of the professional division of the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM).

Eva had a great love of the arts. She enjoyed singing and served as a cantor and choir member for many years at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception in Wilkes-Barre. A life-long learner, she enjoyed studying photography and learning to speak Spanish through Wilkes University.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents Jan and Halina Lange whom she cared for here in the United States in their final years.

Eva was a generous and loving soul and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Celebration of Eva's Life will be on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, with gathering beginning at 5 PM followed by a prayer service at 6 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
