F. John Brislin, 67, of Wilkes-Barre died Thursday at his home.
Born September 26, 1948 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Frank and Mary Hannon Brislin and step-son of the late Mary Burke Brislin.
A graduate of Saint Mary's High School, John earned his bachelor’s degree from King's College and masters in school administration from the University of Scranton.
John started teaching at Bear Creek Elementary School in 1970 and retired from Dodson Elementary School in 2006 after thirty-five years as a principal for the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.
John retired in 2014 after nearly thirty-five years of service, including eighteen as chairman, to the General Municipal Authority of the City of Wilkes-Barre. He was an enthusiastic golfer.
John will be greatly missed by his wife, Margaret; daughters: Kelly and her husband Terrance Henry of Wilkes-Barre, Maureen and her husband D. Bradley Boich of Dallas and Mollie and her husband Brad Kester of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Danny and Abby Boich; sisters, Anne McDonough of Milford, New Jersey and Mollie Ciavarella of Tequesta, Florida; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of John’s Life will begin Monday with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Tuesday with gathering at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Aloysius. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
