Francis J. Dunbar, 78, of Hanover Township and formerly of Wilkes-Barre was in the presence of his family when he peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016.
Born June 13, 1937 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late John and Margaret Smith Dunbar.
Frank was a graduate of G.A.R. High School and served in the US Navy for four years. He retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Frank was an active member of the former Parish of Saint Therese in Wilkes-Barre.
Brothers, Joseph and John, Jr. and a sister, Margaret Reichenbach preceded him in death.
A devoted husband, he will be greatly missed by his wife, Rose Ann (nee Straub) with whom he would have celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on May 21, 2016. Also surviving are his brother, George of Wilkes-Barre; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Frank’s Life will begin Friday with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Saturday with gathering at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Buttonwood. Interment with military honors will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
