Fred Pape, 67, of Wilkes-Barre died Saturday, May 13th at his home.
Born July 31, 1949 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Frederick and Rita Finnegan Pape.
Fred was a member of the Class of 1967 of E.L. Meyers High School, where he excelled on the football and wrestling teams.
Fred was self-employed as a general contractor for more than thirty years. For the last twelve years Fred has been the Building Inspector for the City of Wilkes-Barre, and served as a Compliance Inspector for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Fred’s favorite times were spent on Long Beach Island for vacations which often included extended family. He was also an avid fan of Penn State Football.
Fred was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas.
Fred will be greatly missed by his wife, the former Mary Frank, with whom he would have celebrated forty-three years of marriage on July 12th; daughter, Maura of New York City; sons, Fred of Washington, D.C. and Alex of Philadelphia; brothers, Robert of North Carolina, Richard of New York and Michael of Florida; sister, Lucille Larkin of Wilkes-Barre; sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Fred’s Life will begin Wednesday with visitation from 4 to 6 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre, and continue Thursday as the family invites those who are able to join with them for the celebration of a Funeral Mass at 11AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas, 226 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
