George F. Britzke, 74, of Hanover Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
Born March 8, 1948 in Newark, New Jersey he was the son of the late George and Diane Wasnick Britzke.
George was a member of the Plymouth High School Class of 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and received electronics training at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. George served our country honorably for more than three years with the Army Signal Corps.
George was an electronics technician for Mortronics before retiring. He was known better as a musician, playing with many local bands through the years, starting with The Teens while in high school.
A loving husband, father, and PaPa, George loved cooking for and caring for his family.
His wife of fifty-two years, Maureen Pearce Britzke; children George 'BJ' and his wife Jennifer Britzke of West Wyoming, Thomas and his wife Christine Britzke of Swoyersville, Kimberly and her husband Paul Karnafel of Jenkins Township, and Tracey Britzke of Hanover Township; grandchildren Lauren, Kalysta, Kyra, Abigail, Kaleb, Cody, and Ilaria; sisters Barbara and her husband William Manuel and Georgette and her husband Al Kaplan; sister-in-law Linda Schultz; brother-in-law Tim Pearce; nieces, nephews, additional family, and friends will miss him dearly.
Celebration of George's Life begins Friday, February 24, 2023, with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues there on Saturday, February 25, 2023, with a gathering at 10:30 AM and a prayer service at 11 AM.
