Geraldine M. Cooney, 86, of Ashley passed away at her home on Monday.
Born October 11, 1929 in Mountain Top she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Dalton Gurgick.
Her husband, Gilbert Cooney died January 29, 2016. Sisters, Theresa Romanowski, Betty Lennon and Ann Richers, and brothers, Dan and Gerard Gurgick also preceded her in death.
Gerry will be greatly missed by her son, Jim and his wife Patricia Cooney; daughter, Gildine and her husband Richard Musial; grandchildren, Jennifer Cooney, Brett Musial, Jim and his wife Maureen Cooney, Tim and his wife Colleen Cooney; great-grandchildren, James, Kate, Colin, Jack and Declan Cooney; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Gerry’s family is grateful to her special team of Visiting Angels, Superior Health Care, Geisinger doctors and staff, and Dr. Michelle Catena and staff.
Celebration of Gerry’s Life will be held Friday with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Saint Leo the Great in Ashley. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
