Gertrude R. Bauman, 92, of Wilkes-Barre died following an illness on Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 at Little Flower Manor.
Born April 1, 1919 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Philip and Catherine Ward Sheridan.
A 1936 graduate of Saint Nicholas High School, Gertrude had been a member of Saint Aloysius Church, its Altar and Rosary Society and Senior Citizens Club. Through the years she volunteered in various capacities with several organizations including those at Mercy Hospital.
Her husband of sixty-seven years, Raymond J. Bauman, died April 15, 2007. A sister, Joan Rivers, and brothers, Joseph W. and Philip W. Sheridan also preceded her in death.
She will be missed by her children, Mary Caroline Smith and her husband Charles of Millsboro, Delaware, Janet K. Klein and her husband Fran of Omaha, Nebraska, Raymond P. Bauman and his wife Reiko of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Eileen Reilly and Lisa Leitner of Drums and Joan Dessoye and her husband Peter of Wilkes-Barre; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Gertrude’s Life will be held Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM in the Chapel at Little Flower Manor, 200 South Meade Street in Wilkes-Barre with a Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Little Flower Manor.
