Gertrude R. Loughlin, 103, a longtime resident of Wilkes-Barre passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 4, 2021.
Born June 3, 1918 in Plymouth she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Rose O'Rourke Loughlin.
A 1935 graduate of Saint Vincent's High School, Gertrude continued her education at College Misericordia.
Getrude was office manager for Neisner Brothers in Wilkes-Barre for twenty-seven years, and later worked for First Eastern Bank and its successor, PNC Bank for nineteen years before retiring.
Gertrude was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas, and was a volunteer at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for twenty-five years until retiring in 2011.
Her sisters, Mary and Margaret, and brothers, Edward, John, and Daniel Loughlin preceded her in death.
Gertrude will be missed by a few generations of nieces and nephews, including nieces, Susan Price of Nanticoke, and Catherine 'Ginger' Kemmerer of Hanover Township and great-niece, Colleen Kurilla of Plains.
Getrude's entire family is thankful for the loving and compassionate care she received from her Visiting Angels and the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
Celebration of Gertrude's Life takes place Monday, October 11, 2021 beginning with visitation at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas.
Donations to Saint Joseph's Home in New Jersey, or the Sisters of the Poor in Scranton, will honor Gertrude's memory.
