Gertrude Schuler Zini

September 10, 1923 — July 3, 2017

Gertrude Schuler Zini, 93, a longtime resident of Kingston died Monday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born September 10, 1923 in Ashley she was a daughter of the late H.G. and Edith Norton Schuler. Gertrude was a 1941 graduate of Hanover High School.

Gertrude was secretary to the late Senator Andrew J. Sordoni for a few years before joining her husband in the management of United Furniture in Wilkes-Barre and Edwardsville.

A member of the Parish of Saint Ignatius Loyola and its Women's Guild, Gertrude was active with the Friends of the Hoyt Library and was a longtime volunteer at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Her husband, Frank J. Zini, died January 23, 1986. A sister, Elizabeth McGrady, and brother, George Schuler, also preceded her in death.

Gertrude will be greatly missed by her children, Frank J. Zini, Jr. of Stroudsburg and Marilyn Quirk of Macungie; grandchildren, Sean Connors-McBride, Maureen Connors-McBride, Catherine Zini, Michael Quirk and Melissa Bilotti; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Williams of Easton and Jean McGrady of Lee Park; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Celebration of Gertrude’s Life will be held Friday with visitation from 9 to 10 AM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Mausoleum at Saint Mary's Cemetery.
