Grace Weber Suda

Grace Weber Suda, 85, a longtime resident of the Rolling Mill Hill section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024.

Born June 12, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Brennan Weber.

A 1957 G.A.R. High School graduate, she managed the candy and tobacco department of Rea & Derrick Drugs in Wilkes-Barre until its closing. Grace later worked in the Mercy Hospital cafeteria before retiring.

Grace, a sports enthusiast, especially basketball, enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sports events. She was an excellent cook and gardener. She loved gambling; whether it was going to a Casino or scratch off tickets. 

Grace was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas & Saint Mary.

Her husband of fifty years, Bernard T. Suda, died on January 15, 2009. Her son, Daniel, died on May 20, 1998.

Her children Janice and her husband Rich Frank of Mountain Top, Bernard Suda and his companion Mary Ziegler of Forty Fort, and Michael Suda and his wife Myrna Rios of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Julie and Matt Schlude of Mountain Top, Atty. Richard Frank and Becca Blinn of Philadelphia, Mark and Sarah Frank of San Antonio, Texas, Patrick Frank of San Antonio, Texas, Ken Frank and Maria Kanapi of Philadelphia, and Anderson Suda of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren Natalie, Katie, and Janie Schlude, Crawford and Birdie Frank, and Vicente Frank; sister Ada Scorey of Red Creek, New York; and many other family and friends will miss her very much.

Grace's entire family is grateful for the loving, compassionate care she received from the staff of Providence Place.

Celebration of Grace's Life will take place on Monday, July 15, 2024. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas.

Donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org, or Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, bcfanimalrefuge.org, are preferred and will honor Grace's memory.
