Harry "Skip" Whitman, 67, a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on August 15, 2024.
Born January 4, 1957 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Harry and Marguerite Garrahan Whitman.
A 1975 E.L. Meyers High School graduate, Skip was a truck driver for Luzerne County for many years before retiring in 2019.
Skip was an enthusiastic fisherman. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, football and baseball.
He is survived by his wife, the former Jane Crawley; daughter Anna Crawley; siblings Peg Whitman, Nancy Page, Marilee Dress, and Michael, Brian, and Kelley Whitman; his girl Riley; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and other family and friends will miss him very much.
Skip's family is grateful for the compassionate care he received from the staff of Medical Oncology Associates and the Radiology Department of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Celebration of Skip's Life begins Tuesday, August 20, 2024, with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues there on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, with gathering at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Aloysius.
Donations to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, bcfanimalrefuge.org , are preferred and will honor Skip's memory.
