Helen A. Kosar, 94, passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Born December 9, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Jankauskas Kasakewicz.
Helen graduated from Hanover High School, Class of 1946, and Wyoming Seminary Business School. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C.
A noted vocalist, she obtained her operatic training at The Juilliard School, Wilkes University, and Marywood University. A recipient of certification in Sacred Music, Helen was the principal soloist of the Church of Saint Aloysius for more than fifty years.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her brothers Joseph and John, and her sisters Ruth Coveleski, Jeanne DeWees, Albina Moskal, and Lillian Sacco.
Helen is survived by her daughters Mary Grassi of Bethlehem and Kathryn Bailey of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; grandchildren Lauren Bailey, Adam Bailey, and Christopher Grassi; great-grandchildren Benjamin and Katie Stieber; other family and friends.
Helen's family will celebrate her life privately with a Funeral Mass in the Church of Saint Aloysius.
