Helen Marie Tinsley of Glen Summit died on January 14, 2025.

Born March 10, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Mollie Green Tinsley and Thomas Vincent Tinsley.

A 1955 graduate of Wyoming Seminary, Helen entered a five-year program at Mercy Hospital and College Misericordia to achieve her dream of becoming a pediatric nurse.

Helen worked at hospitals in New York City and Wilkes-Barre before becoming a school nurse in the Wilkes-Barre public schools. She always loved being around children and remained with the schools until she retired.

Helen loved swimming, playing tennis, and walking around Glen Summit in the mountains. She volunteered her nursing skills to various charities and was an active member of the Parish of Saint Jude in Mountain Top.

Her brother Tom, sister-in-law Kitty, and niece Sara preceded her in death.

Helen is survived by her sister Mackie Finnerty, six nieces and nephews: Tracy (Tim) Inall, Molly, Tim (Sheila), Cara (Tom), Bryce (Lisa), John (Kim) Finnerty, and fourteen great nieces and nephews, who gave her great love and joy.

Celebration of Helen's Life takes place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, with a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Saint Jude, 420 South Mountain Boulevard in Mountain Top.

Donations to Wyoming Seminary or the Mountain Top Hose Company are preferred and will honor Helen's memory.
