Ida Angeli Riccetti, 95, a former longtime resident of Pine Road in Plains died Saturday.
Born November 28, 1921 in the Keystone section of Plains Township she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Borocci Angeli.
A graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Ida continued her education and earned a certificate in shorthand.
Ida shared in the operation of the Carey Avenue Market with her husband, John, for more than thirty years. She later worked at Angela's Place in Kingston before retiring.
An accomplished seamstress, Ida was also known for her culinary skill. Learning to play golf in her sixties led to a love for the game she played until she was ninety.
Her husband, John D. Riccetti died January 11, 1983. A sister, Hilda Poli and brothers, Armando, Cleo and Alfie Angeli also preceded her in death.
Ida will be greatly missed by her children, Elaine Roth of Kingston, New York, Joyce Cardoni of Kingston and John Riccetti of Shavertown; grandchildren, Dr. Wayne Cardoni, Maria Burke, Elissa DiCarlo, Col. Christopher Cardoni, John Roth, Jennifer Roth, Lee Riccetti and Scot Riccetti; ten great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Ida’s Life will begin Friday with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Saturday with gathering at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA.
