Irene P. Martin, 93, a longtime resident of the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024.
Born February 13, 1930 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Slovinski Jescavage.
A 1948 graduate of Coughlin High School, Irene was employed in the purchasing department of the VA Medical Center before retiring. In her retirement she enjoyed helping to care for her six grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart.
Irene was a member of the former Parish of Holy Saviour, its Altar and Rosary Society, and the Reginas of King's College.
Her eight sisters and brothers preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters Joan and her husband John Loch of Wilkes-Barre and Nanette Martin of Kingston; grandchildren Ryan and his wife Mecel Loch of California, Jaime Bozentka of Florida, Lauren and her husband Justin England of Colorado, Sarah Bozentka and David Mahalick of Shavertown, Tyler Loch of Colorado, Jacob Bozentka of New York; great-grandchildren Lilly Mahalick, Lucille and Penelope Loch, Madeline and Molly England and nieces and nephews. Her family and friends will miss her very much.
Irene's entire family is grateful for the loving care she received from Allied Services Center City and Allied Hospice staff.
Celebration of Irene's Life takes place on Monday, January 29, 2024, with visitation beginning at 10 AM and a service at 11 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, stjude.org , are preferred and will honor Irene's memory.
