James H. Barnes, 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Kingston on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Born July 23, 1932 in Selinsgrove he was a son of the late Elwood and Nora Beishline Barnes.
Jim met the love of his life, Carolyn Case, in high school. This year, they celebrated seventy-one years of marriage.
Jim honorably served our country as an Airman in the US Air Force for four years through the Korean Conflict.
Before retiring, Jim had a long and successful career as co-owner and plant manager of Hoffman-New Yorker, a laundry and dry-cleaning equipment manufacturer in Dushore.
An enthusiastic boatsman who docked at Lake Seneca, New York, cruised and fished around Lake Champlain, Lake Ontario, the Rideau Canal, and the Saint Lawrence River for many years. Jim also had a fishing boat at his Florida Intercoastal home and spent many great days captaining deep-sea fishing trips chasing sailfish, dolphins, and snappers.
Jim was a Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks Club member. He rarely missed a Boston Red Sox game and enjoyed traveling, live music, coin and stamp collecting, researching his ancestry, drinking a good bottle of wine, and fine dining.
His family was most important to him; he was a wonderful husband and father. His wife Carolyn; children J. Peter Barnes, Daniel C. and his wife Sally Barnes, William T. Barnes, and Carol Lynn and her husband Kaihan Tavakoli; grandchildren Brian, Danny and Thomas Barnes, and Karen, Katie, and Kurt Tavakoli; and great-grandchildren Riley, Benjamin, Samuel and Emmett will miss him very much.
Jim's family will celebrate his life privately.
