James R. Uhl, 68, died Thursday, September 13th in Commonwealth Hospice at Scranton Regional Hospital after a long illness.
Born January 28, 1944 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of Alice Shea of Wesley Village, Pittston and the late John H. Uhl.
Jim was a member of the 1962 graduating class at Kingston High School. After serving four years in the United States Coast Guard, he attended and graduated from Wilkes College in 1970.
Jim was an award winning photographer and painter; having won several prizes locally in the Wilkes- Barre Fine Arts Fiesta, he also had been a featured artist in “the Creative Will” the 10th anniversary of project Rembrant, a national exhibition by thrirty-one artists with multiple sclerosis.
His brother, Thomas Shea preceded him in death.
Jim will be missed by his mother, Alice; daughter, Kristen G. Uhl of York; brothers, John H. Uhl of West Pittston and Neville B. Shea of Falls; sister, Rebecca C. Uhl of Media; and a dear friend, Marjorie Ibsen of Kingston.
Funeral services will be private. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at a later date.
