Jane Podcasy, 96, of Jenkins Township, passed away in the presence of her loving family at her home on August 25, 2023.
Born May 28, 1927 in Wilkes-Barre Jane was a daughter of the late William and Kathleen Ladner of East End.
Jane was a graduate of Coughlin High School. She met her soul mate Bernard Podcasy, on a blind date and married him on June 29, 1946. They spent the next sixty-three years together building a home, a family, and a life that consisted of great friends, great times, and great travel.
Home, however, was where the heart was. They spent many happy years in their summer home at Harveys Lake and their last home together on Riverside Drive, a labor of love they built together.
Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, the Honorable Judge Bernard J. Podcasy, her son, Attorney Bernard A. Podcasy, her parents, and seven siblings.
Her daughters, Susan Merrel and her husband Tom, of Jenkins Township, and Melissa Podcasy and her husband Robert Weiss, of Raleigh, NC; a brother William Ladner, of Jenkins Township; daughter-in-law Patricia Podcasy, of Forty Fort; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren will miss her very much.
Jane's family extends heartfelt thanks to Nancy Richards, Terri Collins, Carla Downden, Leah Diaz, and Nichol Bryan for the incredible care they took with Jane these last seven months. To Lucy Drapiewski and Home Sweet Home, their endless thanks for always being there. And to Linda Tirpak, Jane's friend, caregiver, and companion for over six years, their blessings and deepest gratitude for your care, love, and support. Thank you for being there for all of us.
