Jane Stillarty of Wilkes-Barre died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 30th.
Born May 13, 1927 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Marie Alles Pringle.
Jane attended Saint Ann’s Academy and graduated from Saint Nicholas High School in Wilkes-Barre. She was enrolled in the Cadet Nursing Program and was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.
Most of her nursing career was spent on the staff of Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre. She later worked as a private duty nurse until her retirement and volunteered her time with the American Red Cross. She was a compassionate nurse and devoted selfless care to each of her patients.
Although she loved her career, her children and family were her first priority. She had an unconditional love that was evident to all who knew her and always saw the best in people around her. Jane enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was riding horses out west, watching for deer or lounging by a pool. She enjoyed numerous trips to Colorado visiting her family and making new friends. Holidays will not be the same without her vegetable soup and Thanksgiving gravy.
Her husband, Billie D. Stillarty died in 1979. A daughter, Karen Groshek, sister, Mary Brown and brothers, Thomas, William and Robert Pringle also preceded her in death.
Jane will be greatly missed by her children, Judith and her husband Brian Svegel of Colorado, William Stillarty of Wilkes-Barre, Toni and her husband Michael Kaufmann of Shavertown and Daniel and his wife Lori Stillarty of West Wyoming; grandchildren, Richard and Holly Groshek of Hanover Township, Dr. Tory Tomasetti-Long and her husband Jason of Louisiana, Robbie and Heather Svegel of Colorado and Danielle Stillarty of West Wyoming; brother, Joseph Pringle of Wilkes-Barre; many beloved nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Jane’s entire family is thankful for the community of friends at Lee Park Towers that were so dear to her.
