Janet Corcoran Kane, 93, a former resident of Madison Street in Wilkes-Barre died Friday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born October 2, 1916 in Pittston she was a daughter of the late Michael and Josephine Norton Corcoran.
Janet was a graduate of Saint John the Evangelist High School in Pittston and its Business Academy.
Mrs. Kane was an administrative assistant in the business office of the Wyoming Valley West School District for many years. After retiring, Janet volunteered her time to Saint Vincent dePaul Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre.
Janet was a member of the Catholic Community of North Wilkes-Barre and its Altar and Rosary Society, and the Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement System.
Her husband, Joseph D. Kane, died March 8, 1981. Sisters, M. Grace Shannon and Rosemary McNulty also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Mary Denise Kane Stets of Wilkes-Barre, Eileen Kane of Mountain Top, Judith Pomento of Bear Creek, Janet Walsh of Bear Creek and Joseph D. Kane, Jr. of Bear Creek; grandchildren, William Stets Jr., Jennifer Burczynski, Sheila Mangold, Carl Mangold, Eileen Feyrer, Scott Pomento, Elizabeth Benson, Robert Pomento, Amy Walsh, Kathleen Reyes and Ryan Walsh; great-grandchildren, Michael and Chloe Burczysnki, Gabriel Feyrer and Claire Ann Reyes.
Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held Tuesday at 10 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in Church of Saint Stanislaus Kostka. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin’s on Monday from 4 to 7 PM
