Jean McGroarty Kelly, 83, a former long time resident of Nesbitt Street in Larksville died Monday at The Laurels in Kingston.
Born August 24, 1927 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth Hillard McGroarty.
Jean was raised on Custer Street and graduated from James M. Coughlin High School.
Before she dedicated herself to raising her family, Jean worked for the Social Security Administration in Wilkes-Barre.
Her husband, Joseph Thomas Kelly died in 1993. A brother, Lawrence McGroarty also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Thomas Kelly of Sheldrake, New York, Jean Kelly of Gilbert, Arizona, Joseph Kelly of Frisco, Texas, Francis Kelly of Tamaqua and Joanne Blundell of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Mary Kelly, Chris Kelly, Cassandra, Amanda and Lisa Kelly, Melody and Mike Kelly, Robert, Elizabeth and Chris Gribble and Kyle Blundell; and a sister, Mary Alice O’Hara of Delran, New Jersey.
Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held Monday at 1 PM at McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
