Jean J. Ogren, 88, of Kingston died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born March 31, 1924 in Glendale, California she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katie Jackson of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.
Jean was a graduate of Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois where she earned a BS in Chemistry. During the war she worked as a chemist at the Philadelphia Naval Yard.
After moving to the Wyoming Valley, she worked as a teacher’s aide for the gifted program of the Wyoming Valley West School District. Upon retirement, she remained active in the local chapter of PASR and enjoyed meals out with her friends.
Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilkes-Barre. She was active in the choir; Presbyterian Women’s Association and was a driver for Meals on Wheels.
Her husband of fifty-six years, Dr. Robert E. Ogren, and brother, Frank Jackson, Jr. preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Paul and his wife Jeana Ogren of St. Paul, Minnesota and Philip and his wife Lynn Ogren of Kingston; nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Jean’s Life will be led by her pastor, Rev. Dr. Robert Zanicky at 11 AM on Friday, March 15th at McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin’s beginning at 10 AM on Friday.
