Joanne M Soprano, 92, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2022 at the Meadows Nursing Center in Dallas.
Born February 25, 1930 in Wilkes-Barre she was the daughter of the late William and Vera Ell Monahan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, who passed away on October 7, 1968, and a brother William Monahan.
Joanne was a graduate of St. Nicholas High School and a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Parish, Wilkes-Barre. She was very active in parish activities, including working the weekly bingo games and annual bazaar. Her favorite time of year was the yearly bingo workers' trip to the Jersey Shore. Her last employment was at the Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre, where she worked for more than thirty years. Only a global pandemic could stop her from working shortly after celebrating her 90th birthday.
She loved rooting for the Penn State Nittany Lion Football Team, reading, completing word puzzles, and watching Judge Judy every day in her free time.
Joanne's sons, John and his wife Cathy of Edwardsville, Mark of Swoyersville, and Joseph and his wife Justine of Hanover Township; and her beloved grandchildren, CJ of Wilkes-Barre, and Jill of Los Angeles, California, will miss her very much.
