John J. Conlon, 78, of Wilkes-Barre died Saturday at Hospice Community Care.
Born November 28, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Charles Myles and Evelyn McGinley Conlon.
John attended Cardinal Farley Military Academy in Rhinebeck, New York before graduating from Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern. He continued his education at Babson Institute in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
John was a professional salesman for Philip Carey Manufacturing and Johns Manville for many years, and retired from the Luzerne County Assessor's Office.
His brother, Charles Myles Conlon died December 1, 2009.
Surviving are his son, John J. Conlon, Jr. of Newark, Delaware and daughter, Mary (Patsy) Conlon of Bear Creek; granddaughters, Lori and Mary Murphy; a sister, Lynn Merwarth of Garden City, New York; nieces and nephews.
Celebration of John’s Life will be held Monday from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Private interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
