John Henry Farrell, Jr., Jack, 78, of Hanover Township, passed away after a lengthy illness on January 16, 2022.
Born February 7, 1943 in Wilkes-Barre, Jack was the oldest of five children born to the late John H. and Letty Dugan Farrell.
A graduate of Saint Mary's High School, Jack earned an associate degree in engineering from Wilkes College and continued his education at West Virginia University.
John served our country as a soldier of the Army from 1966 to 1968. Following his service, he worked at Coastal Engineering and Research Center in Washington, D.C., before returning to Wilkes-Barre.
Jack loved nature and spent much time hiking, walking, playing tennis, and baseball. He was an avid reader and lover of Big Band music.
His brothers, Jim and Jerry Farrell preceded him in death.
His sister, Janice F. Oliver; brother, Jeff and his wife Geraldine Farrell; sister-in-law, Karen Farrell; nieces, nephews, other family, and friends will miss him very much.
Jack's entire family is grateful for the compassionate care he received from the nurses and staff of Guardian Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
Celebration of Jack's Life takes place on Thursday, January 20, 2022 with visitation beginning at 8 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception at the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima.
Mask and social distancing protocols will be in effect.
Donations to the American Red Cross or Saint Vincent DePaul Kitchen will honor Jack's memory.
