John A. Yourishen, Jr., 75 of Wilkes-Barre passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
Born February 21, 1943 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late John A. and Helen Marich Yourishen.
A 1963 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Jack served in the Army Artillery from 1964 to 1966.
After holding several management positions with Eberhard Faber, Jack joined Eureka Resale in 1969. He later became one of the founders and original stockholders of the Paper Magic Group in Scranton, retiring as Vice-president in 1994.
An avid sportsman, Jack loved playing golf. He was a member and past-president of Wyoming Valley Country Club, a founding member and board member of Glenmaura National Golf Club, and a member of The Vineyards in Naples, Florida. He cherished each of the seven holes-in-one he recorded through his career.
Jack was a PIAA official for basketball and football. He considered the final Thanksgiving Day game held at Spartan Stadium in 1977, a match up of Wyoming Valley West and Coughlin high schools, to be the highlight of his officiating career. Jack also coached basketball at Saint Jude's School in Mountain Top, leading teams to two diocesan championships and participation in state tournaments.
Jack was an active member of the Parish of Saint Jude in Mountain Top and the Parish of Saint Agnes in Naples, Florida.
Jack will be greatly missed by cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
