John E. Erickson, 87 of Beech Street in Wilkes-Barre and a guest of Golden Living Center-Summit for the past few years died Tuesday in the company of his family at Hospice Community Care.
Born 10 March 1922 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late John and Ann Burrier Erickson.
John attended Meyers High School.
Prior to retirement he operated an acetylene burner for Abe N. Solomon Scrap Metal and the former Shapiro Scrap Metal of Wilkes-Barre.
His wife, Elizabeth McGlynn Erickson died 17 September 1998. Sons, James and Michael Erickson, grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Garbush, a brother, Charles Erickson and sisters, Matilda Wilk and Margaret Storm also preceded him in death.

children, John D. Erickson, Sharon Mangan, Maureen Garbush and Daniel P. Erickson of Wilkes-Barre
twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and a sister Mae Storm
A Celebration of John’s life will be held Saturday at 09:30 AM at McLaughlin Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
