Joseph R. Capasso, 64, of B’nai Brith Apartments in Wilkes-Barre died following an illness on Wednesday.
Born February 15, 1953 in Philadelphia he was a son of the late James and Marie Bastian Capasso. All his siblings preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Capasso; son, Joseph R. Capasso, Jr.; grandchildren, Emanuelle D. Capasso and Olivia A.P. Capasso of Bethlehem; nephews, James and Robert Olson of Philadelphia.
Joe always knew how to brighten someone’s day and would have given the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He had a deep affection for his mother who died when he was young, and spoke of her and his son Joey, Jr. often. He was an active member of the Baptist Tabernacle and, as a friend of Bill, often attended Tuesday and Thursday meetings at Hanover Street in Wilkes-Barre. Joe was a prime example of a man who "Walked with God". Perfect by no means, he was also known as the distributor of gray hairs to many, while he received zero grays in return and was blessed with the softest hair in the world.
For our Brother: Thank you for showing us one of the biggest, strongest and most loving hearts we have ever seen. You were loved and admired by all who knew you and were a true example of how God can change a human being. We will speak of you often. You will forever be missed. Love always and forever from all of us.
Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held Monday from 4 to 6 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
