Joseph Dennis McDonough Jr.

Joseph Dennis McDonough, Jr. passed away unexpectedly in the presence of his loving family at Geisinger Wyoming Valley on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

Born January 11, 1976 in Wilkes-Barre he was the son of Joseph Dennis McDonough, Sr. and Judith Marie Solomon.

Joseph was a 1994 graduate of E.L. Meyers High School.

Joseph was a loving father, a devoted son, a concerned and caring brother, and the most affectionate uncle his nieces could ever ask for. Anyone who knew Joseph knew he was all in, no matter what he was doing.

Joseph loved wholeheartedly, even if he didn't always show his emotions. His emotions surely showed when it came to his son, Tanner McDonough, or his dogs. There was nothing that could match the love Joseph had for them.

From cleaning his cars to being what he referred to as a "super fan" for the Philadelphia Eagles or the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, he was all in. Joseph was a great family member and an even better friend. He was someone you could always count on, no matter the task.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Joan McDonough; maternal grandparents, Claire Watkins and George Campas; stepmother, Mary Ann McDonough; and his aunt, Claire Hahn.

His son, Tanner McDonough; parents Theron and Judith Solomon and Joseph Dennis McDonough, Sr.; brother and sister-in-law Theron and Caryinna Solomon; sister and brother-in-law Sara and Ronald Woznock, Jr.; sister Maureen McDonough; nieces Juliana Solomon and Fiona Woznock, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends will miss him very much.

Celebration of Joseph's Life takes place Thursday, July 6, 2023, with visitation beginning at 5 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. A prayer service will be celebrated by a close family friend, Father Joseph Kearney, at 6:45 PM.

Donations to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge are preferred and will honor Joseph's memory.
