Josephine F. Finn, 97, died Monday, January 18th at Wesley Village where she had been a resident for the past ten years.
Born February 4, 1912 in Sugar Notch she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Isabella Shields Finn.
Josephine received her early education in the public schools and graduated from Perry Normal School in Milton, Massachusetts.
Miss Finn taught kindergarten and first grade for many years in the Lansdale, Pennsylvania and Somerville, New Jersey school systems.
Following her retirement, Josephine was an active volunteer at several local nursing homes, and at the Osterhout Library.
Josephine was a member of the Parish of Saint Mark in Inkerman.
Sisters and brothers, Edward Finn, Mary Gallagher, Michael Finn, Anne Finn, Rosemary Churnetski, Isabel Finn and Lawrence Finn preceded her in death.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, including Rosemary Deraska, Patricia Midgley, Michaela Olisky, Mary Reddy, John Churnestki, Ann Imperial and Lawrence Churnetski.
Celebration of Josephine’s Life will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Church of the Holy Family. Interment will be in Saint Charles Cemetery in Sugar Notch.
